Are you often worried about the things you can`t control? I want to tell you that You are not alone. Most of us try to solve our problems by worrying constantly. But the truth is that worry does not solve anything but it can only worsen your situation.
Why do we worry? Worrying is a habit that gives a false sense of control over the situation but does not solves anything. One can not become a positive person unless he stops worrying about things he can not control. In this article I have laid down a step by step approach that can help you to deal with any stressful situations, you are facing in your life.
1. Identify the Source of Worry
The first step to get rid of worry is to identify the issues that are bothering you. You cannot nail down the main problem without gaining clarity on the existing issues. So identify the source of worry and you are one step closer to the solution.
2. Take Action
Make a list of actions that should be taken to resolve the issues and act on them accordingly. Worrying gives you a false sense of control over your situations. On the other hand you can bring the situation under your control by taking specific actions.
3. Imagine the Worst Case Scenario
If you really want to get rid of the fear of negative outcomes and break the vicious circle of worrying then imagine the worst case scenario possible. Imagining the worst outcome and working out a plan to deal with that outcome can really kill your worry.
4. Let Things Take Their Course
There is no use of worrying if it is obvious that you can`t change anything. So it is a smart idea to let go and let the situations take their own course. Do not torment yourself because of situations you can`t change.
5. Live Your Life in Present
If you can`t not solve a situation then let the things go their own way and live your life in the present moment. It means don`t think about your past or future and start enjoying the present moment. This principle is taught by Zen Monks, this practice is also known as mindfulness. If you want to learn more about mindfulness then visit Zen Habits by Leo Babuta.

6. Stop Worrying and Start Living
Every time you worry, you imagine the future events that have not yet occurred. But most of the things we worry about do not come true. One of the most common reasons why bad things happen in our life is because we are consistently thinking about them. A person who worries constantly works like a magnet that draws all bad things and repels all the good things.
Are you currently going through a difficult situations in your life? Can you apply above steps to solve your current problems or you have decided to let go and let the things take their course. You can share your ideas and experiences in the comment section below.
